About Villa Poggio

The beautiful Villa Poggio can accommodate a maximum of up to 8 persons. The villa has four double bedrooms, all with an ensuite private bathroom.
Villa Poggio is situated on top of a hill with the picturesque old village of Pescaglia at her feet. Overlooking the beautiful Tuscany hillside with the city of Lucca situated in it’s backdrop.
The villa can be considered a new build as it is just a few years old. But the bricks used for the build originate from the castle of Pescaglia, that overlooked Tuscany’s beautiful green scenery from it’s private hilltop.
The Villa’s general interior design is warm and embracing yet very stylish designed by designer Roel Schneemann (NL). Inside Villa Poggio you will find a large kitchen, ideal for family cooking with an adjacent dining area overlooking the pool and the hills. Next to the kitchen is a living room with a stunning view, fireplace and TV. On the ground floor there is also another bedroom for 2. On the first floor you’ll find 3 bedrooms, all with stunning views, each with their own private bathrooms.
In front of the house there is terras with an outside dining area. On the terras there are daybeds to enjoy the warm Tuscan sun. You can't miss the amazing 20 meters long, infinity pool which allows you to swim a decent lane while overlooking the hillsides. In the garden you will find a variety of plants, herbs and olive trees, a small fire pit for a fire or bbq and several nice hide-outs to sit and enjoy the tranquility. You will also discover parts of the old castle’s remaining walls that surround the garden.

Around:
A bit down the hill you’ll find the old little village Pescaglia, with a small cafe for a morning coffee or an evening drink, it is only a 5 minute walk and offers a real lovely rural Italian experience. Just a 25 minutes drive away from Pescaglia is the well-known city of Lucca, about 90 minutes away lies Florence and in 45 minutes you reach Forte di Marmi’s seaside.
Close to Pescaglia there is lot’s to do: you can go hiking, canyoning, mountain-biking and rafting. There are many authentic lovely Italian restaurants relatively close by that serve seasonal local dishes that you will never forget.

Services : All bedlinnen and towels are in the villa for you to use. Only beach towels are NOT provided for.

Arrival : You will be welcomed by our sweet local host Bregje who will explain everything and will show you around the villa. She has all the insiders-tips on where to go and where to eat. She speaks Dutch, English and Italian.

important notes :   
•The acces road is rocky and steep and is not accessible by an average car. (Only 4x4 can get up there) From where you could park your regular car it’s is a short 50 meters steep walk up the road to reach the house.
•Not every bedroom has airconditioning but there are fans.
