About Villa Poggio

Villa Poggio can accommodate 8 persons in total. The villa has four bedrooms for 2 persons all with an adjacent private bathroom.

Villa Poggio lies on the top of the mountain with picturesque the old village of Pescaglia at her feet.  Overlooking the beautiful mountains of Tuscany with Lucca in the background.

The villa can be considered a newly build as it is just a few years old.  Although the bricks used to build this villa originate from the castle of Pescaglia that lied on top of this mountain overviewing the region. There for a beautiful private location within the beautiful landscape of the green hills of Tuscany.  The old little village Pescaglia lies a 5 minute walk down the hill and offers a lovely rural real Italian experience and has a small cafe to enjoy a morning coffee or an evening drink. Pescaglia lies 25 minutes away from the well known city Lucca and about 1.30 hours drive to Florence and a 45 minute drive to the sea side to Forte di Marmi. Close to Pescaglia there are allot of things to do, such as lovely hiking trail on all levels, canyoning, mountain-biking, rafting etc.  Relatively close there are many authentic lovely Italian restaurants that serve seasonal local dishes that will make you never forget them.

The general design of the interior is warm and embracing yet very stylish. Designed by designer Roel Schneemann (NL). Inside Villa Poggio you will find a large kitchen, ideal for family cooking with an adjacent dining area overlooking the pool and the mountains.  Next to the kitchen lies a living room with view with a stunning view and fireplace and TV.  On the ground level there is one bedroom for 2 persons. on the first floor there are 3 bedroom with each their own bathrooms. all with stunning views overlooking the mountains with Lucca in the background.  

in front of the house there is terras with an outside dining area. You can't miss the amazing infinity pool of 20 meters which allows you to swim a decent lane overlooking the mountains. On the terras there are places with daybeds to enjoy the warm Tuscan sun.  In the garden you will find a variety of plants and olive trees, and here and there a nice hide out to sit and enjoy the tranquility.  You will also discover parts of the remaining old castle walls that surround the garden. The garden also offers a place where you can make a small fire and maybe do a barbecue on it.     

Services : All bedlinnen and towels are in the villa for you to use except for beach towels.  

Arrival : You will be welcomed by our sweet local host Bregje who will explain everything and will show you around the villa. She has all the inside recommendations where to go and eat. She speaks Dutch, English and Italian.

 

important notes :   

- the acces road is rocky and steep and is not accessible by your average car. It is a short walk of 50 meters up the road to reach the house.  Not every bedroom has airconditioning but there are fans.
